Hi Himmy,

Thank you for your question.

According to the MFG, It would be possible to install either piece of the 51107 alarm kit on a garage door if placed carefully. Please be advised that there is no remote unit in this kit. Each piece works independently. The small window alarm has an instant siren when its two components are separated. The larger door alarm can be armed and disarmed using the integrated keypad.

Hope this helps.

You can deactivate the alarm on the control box by correctly entering the code. There is also a switch on the side to not have the alarm on at all. If you have the control box set to alarm and do not set the alarm, the alarm does not go off. The window units must be returned to closed position to turn off the alarm. If they are set to chime, they will only chime when the contact the sensors (on open and close).

There is no instant alert with this system. It's more of a deterrant to anyone trying to come in and/or an alert to you if you are home at the time.
