Any 1/4" shank router bit, up to a certain diameter, will work on this router. This router is too small and underpowered for the really big router bits. Those big bits should only be used with table mounted routers anyway.

This router takes any 1/4 inch shank bits. Even though it is a very powerful router, watch how big of a bit you use due to control. It will start eating out a lot of material if you let it get away from you.

You have to register for the lifetime warranty. I completed the info online but received an email stating they could not verify my info so they requested the UPC and a copy of the online bill. They want that sent CERTIFIED MAIL, which cost me $6.30 out of pocket. They say it will take up to 12 weeks to verify the info and I should keep a copy of what was sent in case they ask for it again. This is the first product ever that I could not register on line with name of product, model and serial number. A bit overboard, and costly, in my view.

It's possible with a router and a chamfer bit depending on how deep you want the chamfer. However not this router. You'll need a larger one.

The best tool for that would be a circular saw

Well only with a 45 bit but you would be limited to the amount of the bit. If your wanting to take a lot off this router bogs easily. I think the Bosch or the makita gives cleaner results even though the rigid says it has more horsepower . I have used all of them many times. Even better would be a larger router and not the trim routers or just removing it etc...

The router may be used to cut this edge however it should be done by making several passes, cutting it all on one pass may result in splitting the edge and the router may lack power to complete it in one pass. However, I would not have a problem using the compact router to accomplish the task.

Thank you for your interest in RIDGID!

The RIDGID R24012 is not really designed for that type of application due to it only accepting ¼” shank bits, which are limited in regards to profiles/sizes that would be suited for that specific type of edge cut. A full size router and an appropriate bit would be better for that application. Naturally, we would recommend removing the rail cap and any possible nails or fasteners to avoid the possibility of striking one with a tool under use.
