Hello MissM,

This is Donna with GE and I am happy to help! Yes, if your current microwave is over 11 yers old, it is certainly more cost effective to replace than repair.

There are many current model microwaves that will fit into a 30" wide installation space. The model numbers will begin with the letters CVM, PVM, PNM, JVM1, JVM2 , or JNM.

None of the installation kits are totally interchangeable. GE recommends to use the new mounting system and hardware that comes with the specific microwave. There are vent duct, cord cut-out location and mounting screw location changes for these models.

Should you have any additional questions, please let us know. We are always happy to help!

Hello Lucie,

This is Donna with GE and I am sorry to hear you are experiencing a problem with your over-the-range microwave.

I would suggest to try the following. Give the microwave 30 seconds with no electricity connected to it (unplug or turn off breaker). This will clear the circuit board memory, like re-booting a home computer. If this doesn't solve the problem, you will want to have the microwave checked by an authorized GE service technician. Please see the link below for scheduling service.

I hope this helps!

Remove the two top screws above the bezel and slide the bezel to the left. Then, behind that, straight in the middle is one screw that holds the cover over the light.

Now the tricky part will be sliding your hand in to remove the bulb (on the right). You MUST unplug the microwave before putting your hand in there to be SAFE.

Google your model number and you will find exploded diagrams of the unit as well as parts.

Hello Dan,

Thank you for your inquiry on the GE Profile Spacemaker XL 1800 1.8 cu. ft. Over-the-Range Microwave model # JVM3670WF.

The steps for replacing the oven interior lamp and the cooktop/night light lamp are provided in the use and care manual.

Steps to replacing the interior oven light:
1. Disconnect the power at the main fuse or circuit breaker panel or pull the plug.
2. Remove the top grill by taking out the 2 screws which hold it in place located on the top of the microwave.
3. Slide the grill to the left (opening the door makes grill removal easier).
4. Remove the screw located above the door near the center of the oven which secures the light housing.
5. Replace the light bulb.
6. Replace the screw and grill/screws.
7. Reconnect the electrical power to the oven.

I hope this helps!

It may not be the fuse if it is still powering up. However, getting to the fuse is easy!

1) Unplug the microwave (seems simple but so many people forget).
2) Unscrew two screws at the top above the bezel and then slide the bezel to the left and remove.
3) Unscrew the one screw holding the control panel on
4) Disconnect the control panel (or support it in some safe manner)

The two fuses are right there straight in towards the top. Your heating issue may be the Magnetron or as in my case it was the high voltage diode. Take warning though that the diode connects to a large capacitor which can retain a charge while unplugged. If you don't know what your doing then call a professional. Also Google the model number and you will find parts stores and exploded diagrams showing you everything. In fact, when you remove the control panel there is a little booklet with the wiring diagram (thank you GE)!

Hello,

This is Donna with GE and i am happy to assist you.

Microwave ovens are extremely difficult to diagnose. There are many components in a microwave that can cause similar symptoms. For safety reasons, GE offers no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to:

*Safety requirements due to high voltage (capacitor hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged)
*Complexity of electronic circuitry.
*Special equipment needed to make diagnosis.

I reccommend contacting the GE authorized servicer to schedule an appointment for a technician to diagnose and repair. Please see the link below.

You can also contact Home Depot Parts at 1-877-650-2121.

I hope this helps!
