There is no “standard” design to use for filling joints between patio pavers, but you may consider 1 part Portland to 3 – 5 parts Sand. Alternately, you may consider pre-blended QUIKRETE Sand / Topping Mix #1103. The blend should be mixed with water and used as bedding for the pavers. The pavers can be pressed into the bed allowing the sand mix to fill the paver joint, without coating the paver top. Or, the pavers can be placed on top of the sand bed, and the joints filled using a grout bag containing the sand mix. NOTE that Portland on top of pavers will cause a haze and / or whitening of the pavers.

Both Lowes and Home Depot are not offering this in my area. 92570 or anywhere near. I was looking to make pots for plants and got a cool craft idea from a website called 33 shades of green, and also Martha Stewart. Now I cannot do this without this one product. I do not want to have to buy sand and rocks also :(

QUIKRETE 94 lb. Portland Cement is intended to be used blended with concrete sand and gravel to make a concrete, with hydrated lime and mason sand to make a masonry mortar, or with hydrated lime and plaster sand to make a stucco. When making a concrete, if blended by volume utilizing 1 part Portland, 2 parts concrete sand, and 3 parts gravel, 1 94 lb. Portland Cement will yield ~550 pounds of concrete, which when mixed with water, will yield approximately 4.1 cubic feet or 0.15 cubic yards. This will be affected by waste, uneven subgrade, etc.

Please call your local Home Depot to determine availability. You may also consider the use of QUIKWALL Surface Bonding Cement, which is a white pre-blended mix of white cementitious materials, fine sand, and fibers, or QUIKRETE Glass Block Mortar Mix, which is a white pre-blended mix of white cementitious materials and fine aggregate. Note that your intended use is beyond that for which these products are designed, but you may evaluate whether they are appropriate for your applications.

To get 1 cubic yard of concrete using the ratio of 1 part Portland, to 2 parts concrete sand, to 3 parts gravel by VOLUME, approximately the following would be required: 570 pounds QUIKRETE Portland (~6-94 lb bags), 1212 pounds QUIKRETE All Purpose Sand (~12 ¼-`100 lb bags), 1818 pounds QUIKRETE All Purpose Gravel (~18 1/4 -100 lb bags) for a total of 3600 pounds of dry material. These are estimates, and will vary based upon waste, uneven subgrade, etc.
