Hello,

This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to help.

GE offers one stainless steel Spacemaker microwave model today which is PEM31SF. The exterior dimensions for this model are:
Overall Height - 12-1/8"
Overall Width - 24"
Overall Depth - 12-7/8"

As was the case with your existing model JEM31SF001, this current model PEM31SF requires a built-in trim kit to install it into a wall or cabinet. The trim kits designed for PEM31SF are JX830SFSS (for a 30" finished width) and the JX827SFSS (for a 27" finished width). Because these Spacemaker microwaves have side vents for cooling/air flow purposes, they must have at least 2" clearance on each side for proper operation if not using the built-in trim kits.

Thank you for checking.

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. A great microwave replacement model would be the PEM31SFSS, which is a current model. If you are building the model into a cabinet, an approved trim kit of either the JX830SFSS or the JX827SFSS will be necessary. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

I have a 24" x 12" standard sized undercabinet area which is designed for a microwave to be mounted there. I have done a little bit of research and it seems like the PEM31DMBB and JEM25DMBB models are about the right size. Can anyone tell me exactly what is the difference between those two modelss?? is one newer than the other or has more features than the other? I would need to get a black color microwave

Hello Hani.

Thank you for your interest in the GE Spacemaker II Microwaves.

PEM31DMBB and JEM25DMBB are both nice models and can be mounted under the cabinet with an optional hanging kit.

The JXA019K hanging kit provides flexibility in the installation of select counter top microwave ovens. Using the hanging kit saves valuable counter space by suspending the microwave from the underside of a cabinet. JXA019K is available through GE Parts as a WX4-a019

The difference is the PEM31DMBB is a Profile model and does offer the following upgraded features.

~ Scrolling Display
~ Microwave Sensor Cooking Controls - Beverage (Instant-On); Chicken/Fish (Instant-On); Popcorn (Instant-On); Potato (Instant-On); Reheat (Instant-On); Vegetables (Instant-On)
~ Reminder (24 hr)
~ Timer (On/Off )
~ Limited 5-year warranty on magnetron tube

Thank you for considering GE!

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in GE microwaves.

The current comparable model today is PEM31SMSS. The optional hanging kit is JXAO19K.

None of the installation kits are totally interchangeable. GE recommends to use the new mounting system and hardware that is designed for the specific microwave. There are possible mounting screw location changes.

I hope this helps!

The Convection feature is not available on the Spacemaker II models. If you are wanting Convection, you may want to consider the Profile model PEB1590 countertop microwave.
If offers a optional Built-In trim kit for custom appearance and built-in convenience.

Hello Jerry,

This is Donna with GE and I am happy to help.

As far as features, the most comparable replacement to the JEM31GV is model PEM31DMBB.

Microwave JEM25DMBB would also work well. If your current model is built-in to a cabinet with a trim kit, the new trim would need to be used. The trim kit is # JX827DM.

The new trim kit would need to be used as screw hole locations have changed and cosmetics. The cutout needed is larger in width and the sides may need to be shimmed out or altered slightly.

Should you have any additional questions, please let us know.
