It seems to be pretty heavy duty. I can put an entire "extra large" load out of the washer into this dryer, and set it a little before the "energy saver" setting, and the whole load is dry; even the blue jeans. It has a large capacity due to the lint filter location on the top of the dryer enables a larger drum. It has no inside light.

animalsaver,
Thank you for viewing this Admiral Electric Dryer. The cord is up to you. All of Maytag's Electric Dryers do not come with a cord because of the situation you stated. Homes are typically a 3 or 4 prong dryer outlet, but sometimes it is something different. Because of that, a cord that will fit your outlet is required as a separate purchase. During the checkout process you will be prompted to choose which type of cord to suit your needs. Thanks for asking and we look forward to having you as a customer.

jeanette,
Thank you for the question. The door can be reversed, so that the dryer can have a left or right door swing. Basically, you take the hinges with the door off of the dryer itself, flip it around and install on the other side. The door catch is also removed and placed on the other side as well. There are screw hole covers that are reused for the other side to provide a nice fit and finish. For detailed instructions, please feel free to view the Instructions/assembly guide which is located on the product page by clicking on the More Info tab. Thank you for the question.

answer 2
COCO,
Electric dryers do not come with cords, it is up to the customer to purchase the correct cord to fit the home's outlet type. The reason for this is that there are two different types of dryer outlets, either 3 or 4 prong. Also, some homes will have a different outlet altogether for their dryer. For this reason, it is up to the customer to find the correct cord. Dryer cords can be purchased online or at your local Home Depot. Thank you for the question.

All full size dryers in the US are 220V (110 to each pole X2 ) you cannot rewire the dryer for 110v doing so would not work and most likely burn up the motor and start a fire. If you mean rewire the power supply for the dryer ( the plug ) then yes. You will need a 220v- 4 wire standard dryer outlet.

Dave,
This dryer is meant to operate on 30-amp circuit. I have provided the electrical requirements from the Instructions/Assembly guide below. This information and more can be viewed on the product page by clicking on the More Info tab. Thank you for the question and viewing this Admiral dryer.

Electrical Requirements
It is your responsibility:

To contact a qualified electrical installer.

To be sure that the electrical connection is adequate and in conformance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70-latest edition and all local codes and ordinances.

The National Electrical Code requires a 4-wire power supply connection for homes built after 1996, dryer circuits involved in remodeling after 1996, and all mobile home installations.

A copy of the above code standards can be obtained from: National Fire Protection Association, One Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA 02269.

To supply the required 3 or 4 wire, single phase, 120/240 volt, 60 Hz, AC only electrical supply (or 3 or 4 wire, 120/208 volt electrical supply, if specified on the serial/rating plate) on a separate 30-amp circuit, fused on both sides of the line. A time-delay fuse or circuit breaker is recommended. Connect to an individual branch circuit. Do not have a fuse in the neutral or grounding circuit.
Do not use an extension cord.

If codes permit and a separate ground wire is used, it is recommended that a qualified electrician determine that the ground path is adequate.

annie,
Dryers are not required to be measured for their energy usage in either gas or electric models. Depending on your utilities and their cost, it can be more economical to operate an electric dryer over gas. However, in other markets the opposite is true. Also, with the sensors that are built into dryers, the efficiency is about the same for either gas or electric. The final decision is really based on preference or your home's requirement.

I am sorry to hear that your Admiral dryer has stopped working properly for you. The product does have a limited one year warranty from the date of purchase. I would suggest doing a couple of things. 1) Call The Home Depot/Maytag Hotline at 877.461.3776. They will be able to help you troubleshoot your issue first, then they will be able to find your purchase date and what of the warranty is left. Also, the hotline can help you setup service if that is ultimately needed. 2) Visit the store that this dryer was purchased from and they can help assist with the above also.

Hello Valued Customer,
Thanks for your question and interest in this appliance. The Powder Coated Steel Drum consists of a substance which makes up the inside of this dryer. Powder coating is a technology by which a powder is applied statically to a basically electrified metal (aluminum or stainless) which melts and adheres. Providing a smooth surface that is scratch resistant, clothes gently glide off its surface without snagging. A great feature!

Also, all of our appliances come with a one year parts and labor warranty. We also offer a 2 or 4 year extended service plan for $69.95 and $99.95, respectively. These would give you 3 or 5 years of total coverage.
If you decide to add the extended warranty after the initial purchase, this can be done within the first year only. Please contact our Appliance Hotline at 800-455-3869 for details or if you need assistance placing an online order.
Thanks!
