the 4 poles of bottom screw into the 4 poles of the top...so you basically have 8 half poles that screw into each other creating four longer poles...recommend that you calculate where you want your shelves, bearing in mind there is a 1" lip under each shelf and do the shelves you want lower BEFORE you screw the uprights together...keep life easy on yourself.

The customer sets the spacing on the shelves to suit oneself while in the process of assembly. Simple matter of counting the grooves on the uprights to get them level. Overall assembly is simple and easily accomplished by one adult. I have three sets in a garden/growing shed, and they have proved to be a good investment. Optional wheel sets were a big plus for my use.

Yes, you can. If you are looking for replacement or additional posts or shelves, you will need to know the needed pole(s) finish, diameter and length and for shelves, you will need to know the finish, width and length to ensure that the correct components are available. This type of product is quite similar across the different brands. Many of the products are NSF certified (National Sanitation Foundation - think food processing facilities) and many of the components are interchangeable between brands. If you need components for these units, research the Seville Classics and Honey-Can-Do websites. Many of the components are also offered on the A--Z-N website.

NOTE to HD: You really need to consider carrying these requested components. It is called 'customer satisfaction'. On the plus side, many of your products compete favorably on pricing with other websites, so why force your customers to leave your site.

I few years ago I was in a Home Depot store in Illinois and saw that they carried the component parts. I have since moved to Wisconsin and the Home Depot store nearest me only stocks the boxed units. So you might try asking someone in the store if they can get the components. Buying the parts separately will probably be pricey, but it's a shame that those extra shelves aren't getting used. Good luck.

Depends on how strong you are and long your arms are. It wouldn't be hard to hurt yourself. The box is really long and awkward to lift, plus the whole package weighs 65 pounds (if I remember correctly). I'd get a buddy to help (which isn't a problem at the store; then you could just break it down into pieces once you're home, if need be).

However HD sells a 4" diameter 4 wheel package for approximately $20.00 which is a very good size for this large shelving unit. The wheels are 2 with/2 without brakes. Tho you can order smaller wheels, I'd recommend this larger diameter wheel to facilitate stocked unit movement.

The screw size seems uniform regardless of size and if your in doubt do what I did ask them to check the shelf and the caster together...they'll accomodate you.

Good question... I'd originally intended to put casters on mine but didn't. What type of casters will depend on what type of load you will put on the shelf. This shelf is rated for 600 lbs per shelf, 3600 total load. Pretty hefty.... The simple black plastic casters like you'd have on a rubbermaid drawer rack will not work... at least not for long...

There are numerous solutions commercially available. Enter "Casters for Food Storage Shelf," on a google search (see photo).

They would be nice - well ventilated, good drainage, etc., but I suspect that over a few years time they would show corrosion - that might not be a big deal - you could repaint them if so. I have used the plastic shelf units for plants, but they do not look as nice, and after a few years the plastic can become brittle and cracks easily.

They're food service grade chrome, so, they should be resistant to rust. One thing however, they're chrome. In this case the length of the box would be 49 to 50" long...little more than 4'. Take a Bungee cord and a red rag along if that's too long for your Camry.

Home Depot doesn't have a unit this size with only three shelves and I doubt if they will split this unit. One option would be to buy the entire unit and construct the portion you need now and save the other half for when you need additional storage.

This comes with 6 shelves standard. You do not have to install every shelf although the unit is more stable with all 6 installed. Additionally, if you have extra shelves the same dimension you could add them. The shelf supports would allow he shelves to be placed as close together as 4 inches. If you really only want three shelves but want to store the extras so you don't lose the parts you could place two right on top of each other for extra stability

You know I was in a Home Depot store a few years ago and they carried the individual shelving components (poles, shelves and plastic clips), so a fella or gal could purchase the components separately and build whatever is needed. I moved to a different location a couple years ago and the store nearest me doesn't seem to carry the individual parts. It might be best to just ask someone at your local store to see if they can special order something for you. I imagine buying the individual parts will be more expensive than buying the boxed unit. May be you could buy the complete unit and sell the shelves you don't want to someone looking for a couple of extra shelves. (Just a thought.)

From what I have read from other reviews, it is virtually impossible to find replacement parts for this item. Perhaps Home Depot can be persuaded to contact the manufacturer to see if they would be willing to package and sell replacement parts for those who might require them. I don't think anyone would be willing to buy a whole unit for replacement parts, especially if all you need are the little black shims that hold up the shelves.

When I purchased my unit the weight per shelf was listed I believe in the specs area...if I remember correctly the weight per shelf was 350 lbs. You will want to re-read description thoroughly tho as I seem to recall there is a diminished capacity based on the size of the caster you may put on the unit.

If no caster, it's 350 lbs per shelf...with 4" caster I believe the recommended weight per shelf drops by 100 lbs per shelf or limit of 250 lbs per shelf which is still ALOT of weight.

No it is meant to stand, not roll. If you think you'd need to move it you might consider buying a set of magic movers - those flat discs that you could put under the feet to allow you to move the unit. But I wouldn't recomend moving it very often or far as the unit doesn't appear to be strong enough to flex it very far.

Size wise yes because you determine where you want the shelves (i.e.12" 13" 18" etc.)
Your biggest challange would be weight. If you know the formula for the weight of water, the weight of your tanks, and tank content...the weight restrictions are noted...I believe it is 350 lbs per shelf if not on casters...so yes do your calculations accordingly.

Per Home Depot: "Each shelf holds up to 600 lbs. each evenly distributed and has a total unit weight capacity 3600 lbs. for optimal use..."

Since you can adjust the shelves to any height to create any configuration you desire, it is highly conceivable that the shelves can be used to hold an aquarium. However, adding the heavy duty casters reduces the weight limit, so unless you have a small aquarium, don't plan on using the casters.

The shelves are all identicle to each other. The upright poles are 2 sets of 4 which screw together.

if you choose to make a work surface you can because you would use the poles without screwing them together.

Because you determine where you want the shelve you can do exactly what you've mentioned with storage beneath the uppermost shelf.

The upright poles have spacing segments 1" apart on all the upright poles.

There are only 4 pole caps which you can snap on the top of one set of shelves you design, I have no idea where you would find another set...but I'm sure you can improvise.

The shelves are very heavy duty so whatever you select as a worksurface (Butcherblock etc.) will be fine and the unit will withstand the weight well.
