Hello David,

This is Sheree from GE and I will be glad to assist you. This model would be replaced by similar model JVM1740, but sadly will need to have its own mounting bracket and screw holes. This is the case with all replacement over the range microwaves. I hope this helps!

Hi Lincoln Lady. This is Jill with GE. Thank you for your interest in our appliances and for your inquiry. I am happy to help. Although we no longer make your model, we do have some terrific models available. We generally do not suggest an exact replacement model because all of our current models that start with the letters JVM, CVM, PVM, PNM, and SCA will fit into the same width cut-out. The dimensions may vary, but just slightly. These models also have a built-in fan underneath the microwave and are designed to be installed over a range or cooktop. However, while looking at the different models, I find that the JVM1540DPWW is the closest replacement to your JVM1440WH01. It is a gorgeous model.

It is important to know that you will need to use the mounting brackets and hardware that come with it. The mounting kits have changed over the years and are not interchangeable. Current models are installed with the use of a mounting plate. There is a key slot for flat bottomed cabinets and self-directed tapping screws.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if any additional questions come up. Have a nice day!

Hello Chris,
This is Alison from GE.
Any of our over the range microwaves beginning with model numbers JVM, CVM, PVM, and our Advantium's beginning with SCA should be a suitable replacement.

When installing your new microwave, you will need to use the mounting brackets and hardware that come with it.
The new product should fit in the same space.

Model JVM1540DPWW is a suitable replacement.

I hope this information is helpful.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

are you saying that a new JVM model will fit an old JVM model? My old one, model JVM 1631WB died last night. I've been looking at models 1750, 1540, 1840 and 1740, all JVM models. I'm hoping they will fit the space. Thx.

Hello Pat,

This is Donna from GE And I will be happy to help you. Yes, There are many current model microwaves that will fit into a 30" wide installation space. The model numbers will begin with the letters "CVM", "PVM", "PNM", "JVM1", "JVM2", or "JNM".

None of the installation kits are totally interchangeable. You must use the new mounting system and hardware that comes with the specific microwave. There are vent duct, cord cut-out location and mounting screw location changes for these models.

I hope this helps!

Hello Susan, this is Nikki with GE. I suspect the model you now have is JVM1533WP since we do not have one that ends in "WD". The mounting hardware is different so you would need to use the brackets that come with the new model. The good news is the mounting space will be the same so there will be no problems with matching up the vent, etc. Let us know if you have any other questions and thanks for your interest in GE.

Hi Carla. This is Jill with GE. I am happy to help you. The overall dimensions of the JVM1540DPWW are 29 7/8 in x 16 1/2 in x 15 1/4. The cut out space requires a 30" minimum width and a 12" minimum depth, so it sounds as if this will work well for you. Please let me know if I may be of further help. We appreciate your interest in our appliances. Have a nice day.

Hello John,

This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to answer your question.

All Spacemaker XL1400 microwaves required a 30" wide cabinet opening. All current GE 30" Spacemaker/Over-the-Range microwaves require the same 30" wide cabinet opening. For information on the model that would be closest to your specific model, please get back to us with the model number which can normally be found inside the oven cavity.

Thank you for your interest in GE microwaves.

Hello Judy,

This is Sheree from you GE and I will be glad to assist you with your question. GE Spacemaker 1.5 cu. ft. Over-the-Range Microwave in White Model # JVM1540DPWW would be the replacement model. It will have some great new features, as well, as being 1/4 inch taller but will fit in the same space between your cabinets. Also you will need to purchase the recirculating charcoal filter kit (JX81J) and turn the blower a quarter turn for internal venting. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello John,

This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to answer your question.

These models are almost identical. The only difference is that the HVM1540DPWW is sold exclusively through Home Depot and the JVM1540DPWW can be sold through many different dealers. Also, the HVM1540DPWW has 5 Convenience Cooking controls which includes the Vegetables option. The JVM1540DPWW has 4 Convenience Cooking controls, which does not have the Vegetables option. The remaining Convenience Cooking controls are the same on both models (Popcorn, Beverage, Potato, and Reheat). The Vegetable control automatically sets the cooking times and power levels to cook fresh, frozen, or canned vegetables.

Hi, This is Kim with GE. Thank you for your interest in our brand and your continued loyalty to GE. Your mother's unit, JVM1650WB003, is 1.6 cubic ft. Model number JVM1540DPWW is 1.5 cubic ft., so slight difference in capacity. This does change the turntable size from her unit of 13-1/2" in diameter to 11-1/2". The installation and features are very close. There are appearance differences, but without adding features, it is the closest in features to your mothers. Please let us know if other questions come up.

Hi, this is Sheree from GE and I will be glad to answer your microwave questions. You are correct if the wattages are 500 watts different then the larger wattage would be pulling that much more power. This means the 1000 watt microwave would have slightly increased cooking times to compensate. I hope this helps!

Thanks for your interest in our GE products.
