Hello Debbie!

Unfortunately, this product does not include wood on the list of materials it will adhere.

Loctite Clear Silicone Sealant Adhesive is rated for "painted wood" and glass.

The problem with most unpainted wood is the surface absorbs much of the adhesive, leaving very little to retain the glass.

Your local Paint Associate can show you other clear adhesives that will help with your project.

Loctite Glass Glue is specially formulated for bonding all types of glass to itself and glass to non-porous materials such as metal and certain plastics. Loctite Glass Glue is not recommended for bonding glass to porous materials, such as wood. We do recommend Loctite Stik n Seal Indoor Adhesive, which is great for bonding brick, cement, ceramic, glass, leather, rubber, wood, tile, fabric and most plastics. It applies white, but dries clear, and cleans up easily with soap and water.

I ordered an olive oil container and the arm seal is cracked so I'm looking for something to fix it that is non-toxic for food and there are no specifics listed that I saw. Is this a good option?

Hello Michael,

This glue will work on your ashtray. It is the best glue for strictly glass. However, nothing is as good as the glass was originally. While the glue will work for a period of time, it won't hold it forever.

Thank you!
Christine :)

Loctite Glass Glue works best if the pieces can be placed in close contact. If the pieces are poorly fitting, Loctite Instant Mix Epoxies (5 minute and Extra Time) will deliver better gap-filling performance. Epoxies have a tendancy to slightly yellow over time, however in very thin applications this will be minimally noticeable.

The Technical Data Sheet (TDS) for Loctite Glass Glue states the cured bond has heat resistance up to 176°F (80°C). However, it is unclear what the extreme temperatures of a specific light fixture might be. While the TDS is accurate, it is not an implied or expressed warranty. Purchasers should test the products to determine suitability for their own intended use. The TDS can be found on loctiteproducts.com brand website.
