Actually It's design pretty much stops it from moving out of place. However it is possible if bumped for it to move but it only takes a second and minimal effort to return it to place. I put mine on my front door and out of the hundreds of time I have open and closed that door it has only needed to be readjusted 3 or 4 times.
I hope this helps.

It seems to need the pressure of the floor underneath it to help hold it on. I tried to use it on a door from the house to the garage where the floor is lower. It doesn't work at all and I have to return it. As soon as the door opens outward, the draft stop falls onto the floor.

I'll bet someone could probably find a way to do that Alex, but an easier and perhaps better choice might be to use this item for under the door drafts as intended then apply self adhering vinyl V channel weather stripping on the sides and top of the door jamb if needed.
I hope this helps - RE

The Double Draft Stop is not Rigid enough to prevent Bugs from Crawling under the door. A better solution in this situation would be an Aluminum and Vinyl Door Sweep that attaches to the bottom inside of the door.

I am sure it could if you really wanted it to be adhered to the door, but I can't imagine why you would want to. As I just told another person I have installed mine on my front door and out of the hundreds of times (over three or four months) that I have used that door this draft stopper has only needed to be returned to place 3 or 4 times when I have bumped it on the way in or out.
I hope this helps. - RE
