If you are experiencing access fuel fumes please check and ensure the gas cap is tight. Also make sure the unit is only being primed with fuel 1-3 times on the initial starting procedure. I suggest contacting a local dealership for further assistance if the issue persists.

I am sorry to hear that you have an issue with your machine. I would first check the drive cable to make sure it is adjusted properly. If the cable is adjusted properly then I would check the drive belt or spring that is located under the belt cover. Ariens has a video that shows how to do this on their support site. If the machine is still under warranty you can also take the unit to an authorized dealer. If the repair is a defect they may be able to fix it under warranty.

I am not familiar with the Power smart line but looking at the specs The engine size is the same. The Sno-Tek looks to be designed to move heavier snow 12" vs 6" The chute rotation is a 200 degrees vs 180 and the drive system is different offering a 6 forward speed to the 4 speed offered on the Power Smart. Looking at the picture of the Power smart there are also other differences in the construction and operation of the unit.

January 26, 2016
I've had this snow blower for 3 years. I used it a few times. I like it.
I tried it for this big storm and it won't start. Very upsetting. It has gas in it, but I do run it out of gas after each season. What company can I call for service? I need them to come pick it up as it is very heavy. Please give me a recommendation. I live in Bergen County in NJ.

Thanks for your help.

I am sorry to hear that your snow blower did not start. To find a service dealer for an Ariens engine go to ariens.com and select the "where to buy" link. This will provide you with a list of service dealers in your area. if you have an Briggs engine you will want to go to briggsandstratton.com and use the dealer locator link. Most dealerships do offer pick up and delivery but they will charge for this service.

I am sorry to hear your machine is not working. It sounds to me like the auger cable may need to be adjusted. If he belt is to loose it will slip under load and not throw the snow from the chute. The owners manual will explain how to adjust the auger cable tension.

Blades handle doesn't increase the speed of the blades

Asked by

January 24, 2016
I just used this blower today for the first time. I noticed two things: the blades handle (on the right) is not increasing the speed of the blades with or without the left handle. Am I missing something?
The second thing is the right wheel, I felt like it's not spinning from the engine and only the left wheel did. Is there any 1x1 or 2x2 wheel?

Please advise,

This machine can be both a 1 wheel or a 2 wheel drive depending on how you set it up. Please take a look at the operations portion of your owner's manual to see how to put the unit in 2 wheel drive. The attachment lever will not increase the speed of the impellor the impellor speed is set off the engine speed and is constant. The lever is only designed to engage or disengage the attachment.

You will sometimes notice a smoke coming from the new paint on the muffler. If that is what you are noticing it will go away after a short time. You will also notice a whites smoke if the engine is overfilled or tipped at any point. If the engine is overfilled the oil level will need to be corrected.

Question

How are you supposed to turn?

Asked by
Ron
Wisconsin
about 24 in. 2-Stage Electric Start Gas Snow Blower on
January 5, 2016
I put it in 1-wheel-drive by moving the right wheel to the outer position. The right wheel still does not turn freely. When you lift up the unit and turn the wheel, it still turns the left wheel with it, and its still driven, just like the left wheel. So basically, moving the wheel to the outer position had no effect on making it 1 or 2 wheel drive. I tried both wheels and got the same result. What is the problem?

I am sorry the directions are not more clear. The wheel does not move to the outer position just the clip. The idea is that the wheel would not be pinned to the axle and by putting the clip through the outer hole it will just hold the wheel from coming off but the rim will not be pinned to the axle.

I leave the pins in both wheels, to maximize traction. But, even with both wheels serving as drive wheels, turning only requires that you stop (by releasing the drive lever), manually turn the blower to where you want it to go, then reengage the drive lever.

Not many if any snow blowers will get the ice off a driveway once it sets in. Ice melt is your best bet. The snow blower will be most effective if you get out and remover the snow before a car is driven on the drive.
