Mine did the exact same thing after 4 -5 months. If you go to Bemis's website, you can fill out an e-mail request to their customer service dept. However, it stated that if you are within your 1-year warranty period, you can take it back to the store. I had my receipt, so I went back to Home Depot and got a refund without any trouble. I liked the seat so well that I bought the same one again. However, I made sure I saved this receipt, too, just in case. I hope the second seat doesn't fail, because I like the design.
