I am considering painting most of my interior, including vaulted ceilings in the marquee varnished ivory. I also like the bleached linen color in regular behr paint. Can any color be mixed in a marquee and still have the 1 coat coverage guarantee? Also what do the paint codes mean? I have found a few CL=yellow oxide, IL=Brown Iron Oxide, LL=Raw Umber. What is YL ? Does varnished ivory have any green in it? Does Bleached Linen have pink?
Thank you!!

Hi Unsure,

Thank you for writing in with your question. Our Marquee interior paint will cover in one coat when tinted to a 1-coat color, so not all colors will cover in one coat. You can pick up a brochure at your local store or view the 1-coat colors online.

The YL colorant is a high hide yellow. Varnished Ivory has CL, LL, and YL colorants. Bleached Linen has CL, IL, and LL.

I hope this information helps. Have a great day!

Regards,

Giovanna

Hello TR,

Unfortunately, we are not able to identify a custom color based on the color formula. I would suggest taking the lid to your local Home Depot to see if they can re-create the custom color.

Best regards,

Kevin

Hi Mike, Thank you for your question! PREMIUM PLUS ULTRA® Paint & Primer in One is a 100% acrylic latex water-based paint. You may use Ultra as the primer coat for properly prepared uncoated or painted interior surfaces. For extra protection, Behr Premium #436 Multi-Surface Primer & Sealer is also a great option.

Hello, and thank you for your interest in BEHR PREMIUM PLUS ULTRA®. The samples say Interior/Exterior since you can get both types of paint in the BEHR PREMIUM PLUS ULTRA palette. The samples are used to help you gauge color only. Once you select a color and bring it back to your local The Home Depot store, an employee at the paint desk will ask if you are working on an interior or exterior project and tint the appropriate base for the job. Hope this helps, and best of luck on your project!

Question

Is there somewhere I can get a list of the color codes listed on your paint labels?

Asked by

When I request paint from a color swatch, your paint machine first prints out a label with codes indicating the ?pigment? colors. I often bug the HD paint people in order to know what the colors in the code are. I find it useful when I am trying to put different colors together. Right now I am trying to find the right colors of pink (Old Flame is close), light blue/gray (Quartz and Gray Pearl are close) and tan (Smoked Tan is close but too saturated.) I use the color codes to help me figure out if the different colors might work together. For example, I see that Quartz, Gray Pearl, and Smoked Tan all have BL and LL; I see that Quartz and Gray Pearl have VUL which I understand is a type of purple. I see Smoked Tan has CL which is a type of yellow (but there are several types of yellow). Yellow and purple are opposing colors on the color wheel. I am thinking that if I could calm down Smoked Tan's saturation to be compatable with Quartz and Gray Pearl, they might be an interesting blend of colors to bounce off a pink apartment building.... In the above example I don't believe Sea Breeze would work as well as Quartz - Sea Breeze does not have BL or LL which the other three colors do have. PS - I find color blending facinating. And I am not a painter, just someone who wants to be able to get exactly what I am looking for on these 2 story apartment buildings. And I use Behr paint exclusively. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Hello; l am a paint associate at a Depot store. Actually VUL is High hide Magenta which when mixed with yellow will create Red. If you want a run down of pigments not a problem, however unless you understand what each do in a formula knowing they are there won't help much. Instead look at the color sample( a paint chip) not a magazine photo or a picture on your phone or computer screen. The chip is the only accurate source.
CL= yellow oxide, LL= raw umber, VL= magenta, JL= Carbazole purple, EL= phthalo blue, IL= brown iron oxide , RL= permanent red, DL= phthalo green, TL= medium yellow, FL= red iron oxide, BL= black, KXL= white, AXL= permanent yellow. The pigments with a U in them is high hide. All pigments have an L at the end which means Low voc.

I like some of your color blends (like Smoked tan and Florida Mango) but they are too saturated. I believe that I could rework the color blends to my liking if I could understand what is the difference in the base.
