Question

Ok for trailer floor?

Asked by
Twodogs

about Non-Skid Floor Finish Additive on
February 4, 2016
I have ordered an enclosed cargo trailer to carry motorcycles. I wanted to paint the wood floor gray and add the non skid additive. Is that ideal for my application? Paint and wet motorcycle tires are not a good mix, and Im hoping this additive might be course enough to prevent the tires from slipping.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your interest in our Behr Premium Non-Skid Floor Additive. This additive is formulated to be added into Behr Floor Coatings when applied to concrete surfaces. We do not merchandise floor coatings to adhere to aluminum ramps, therefore this additive cannot be used for that surface.

Hi Jess,

Thanks for your question. There is a "gritty" texture to achieve the slip resistant feature but it is not extremely rough and should not be uncomfortable for bare feet. However, this is subjective and may differ from person to person.

I plan to mix it with Behr Premium gloss porch and floor paint for painting basement stairs, so that I can have both beautiful gloss sheen and non-skid feature. I plan to use either PFC-12 or PFC-17 color paint. My question is, how will the addition change the color? darker or lighter? or will it change the gloss sheen, to make it less shiny? Thanks!

Thank you for your question. You should use a floor paint such as Porch & Patio or 1 Part Epoxy for steps. Behr Premium Ultra exterior paint is meant for vertical surfaces. You can add non-skid to both of these floor coating products. Good luck with your project!

Thank you for your interest in our Behr Premium Non-Skid Floor Finish Additive. This product can be used with Behr Premium Solid Color Concrete Stain to provide a slip resistant coating. It is very easy for you to mix one bag per gallon of coating. To remove an existing coating we would recommend a product such as Behr No 992 Paint Stripper. Please follow all back label instructions to ensure proper surface preparation and application.
