Question

GE Dispossal Model GFC320F

Asked by

about Disposall 1/3 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposer on
May 20, 2011
My older GE GFC320F Disposall unit is failing and I would like to replace it with either the same (if still available), or a similar unit. However, if it's an equivalent unit than i want to make sure the mounting and fittings are the same so I can just make a quick exchange. Which current model or models do you recommend? Thanks.

You should be able to make the swap out without disturbing the mounting collar in the sink. But, you will need to remove the power cord from the old unit and reuse it in the new one. All of the plumbing connections will be in the same place.

The directions are pretty easy. Remove the old one, if not the same mounting you will need to remove this as well. This is where I ran into problems, as it did not want to come off. Once it came out, easily replaced it with the new parts in the box. Install sink flange, hook up disposal to the coupling, attach drain piping, wire up the disposal and your all done.
Ran into a few hiccups with the wiring, as they really stressed hooking the white wire to the white wire (for proper grounding) however my disposal did not have a white wire, they were brown and blue. Checked with an electrician friend of mine and he stated that the blue wire is the "white one".

Hello Clay,

Thank you for your inquiry on the GE Disposall 1/3 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposer
Model # GFC320T. My name is Donna and I will be happy to help.

I do not have any specifications on the Insinkerator disposal.

I would recomemnd to check the GE Appliance website for the installation instructions and specifications for the GE disposal. It will provide typical replacement scenarios to avoid standing water in the motor housing.

I hope this helps.

In-Sink-Erator is just a model name for a garbage disposal....
Replace with any brand or model that you would like. Just be sure that you won't have to change the layout of the piping under your sink.

Hi Kate,
This is Joyce from GE. I will be happy to help. You have model GFC310 which has the following features.

The Hopper Capacity 1 quart.

* Continuous feed
* Sound insulation
* Dual splash guard
* Quick clip-on mounting system
* 1/3 HP motor
* 8,000 RPM grinding action

I recommend the following model because it has the same 1/3 Horsepower and it is Continuous Feed. (Take a look at model GFC320V, I have provided a link below.) The installation should be pretty quick and easy. I recommend contacting a qualified plumber to install this for you and verify that nothing would need to be changed out due to age.

Please see the installation instructions in the link below:
