I don't think the ice is filtered but I could be wrong. From what I know usually just the water is filtered. I have seen someone add an external filter. You can run a filter through the water line before it hits the refrigerator.

Hello,

This is Donna with ith GE and I will be happy to help you with your question on the GE Adora French Door Refrigerator in Stainless Steel model # DFSS9VKBSS.

This is is beautiful refrigerator. Stainless steel is not smudge or finderprint proof. It does involve more maintenance. There is not a special coating on it.

You may want to consider a model with the CleanSteel finish. CleanSteelTM is a laminate vinyl with the look of stainless, but without the fingerprints. Magnets stick to CleanSteel.

I hope this helps. Thank you for considering GE!

Hello Hana,

This is Donna with GE and I will be happy to help you with the GE Adora 28.5 cu. ft. French Door Refrigerator model # DFSS9VKBSS

Egg bins have not been supplied for some time in GE refrigerators. They are available as an option. These bins can be placed on a refrigerator shelf, on a door shelf or in the freezer. There are currently two types of bins.
* A 14 1/2" x 4 1/4" rectangular bin. This type does not have individual cups for each egg, so it can be used to store other items. When storing eggs, place the egg carton in the bin with the eggs still inside. This will allow you to stack 2 cartons in the bin. The part number for this item is WR32X1560.
* A 14 1/2" x 4 1/4" rectangular bin models. It will also hold two dozen eggs, but it has twelve individual cups to hold eggs. The second dozen may be placed directly on the first. The part number for this item is WR32X1435.

Refrigerators with the dual overhead evaporator systems function differently than conventional refrigerators:
* The evaporator in a conventional refrigerator cools the freezer, then vents the freezer air into the fresh food compartment. Cold fresh food air comes directly from the freezer.

* With the overhead evaporator system, the cold air is generated by the evaporator located above the freezer and fresh food compartments. This allows the air to be vented into the freezer and fresh food compartments separately eliminating shared air.

Benefits the overhead evaporator system:
* Eliminating shared air protects food from odor/flavor transference.
* Air in the fresh food compartment retains necessary moisture.
* Fewer defrost cycles are needed- the freezer operates more efficiently and frozen foods retain their quality longer.
* The overhead evaporator frees up additional freezer space.

I hope this helps!

answer 1
Hello,
This is Alison from GE. I am sorry you are experiencing this issue with the icemaker on your GE refrigerator. I am happy to assist you.

If the icemaker is not dispensing ice, please review the following:

Dispensing regular ice cubes requires energizing a lever behind the ice bucket to open a flap and allow whole cubes to come out. If an ice cube gets behind the ice bucket this can prevent the lever from working.

If no ice cubes are behind the bucket, try to dispenser ice with the bucket removed and the door shut and listen for a loud snapping noise of solenoid. If no snap, service will be needed. If you hear a snap then the solenoid is working - the only other possibility is ice frozen in bucket.

Possible moisture/frost could have formed behind the freezer wall on the auger motor. Set the dispenser for cubed ice. Take a glass and push in on the cradle and hold in for 30-60 seconds. This will allow the motor to run to create some heat to melt the moisture/frost. If it doesn't dispense after 1 minute, then service would be required.

Frozen ice in the bucket can cause crushed cubes only or no ice at all to dispense. The bucket can be removed and rinsed with warm water. If condition re-appears icemaker may be leaking or overfilling.

Remember the dispenser will not operate unless the door is closed.

If the door is closed but mis-aligned, the door interlock switch will not activate and no ice will be dispensed. Make sure the door is aligned properly. Also make sure the door switch is working and not sticking. Push in on the switch and make sure the plunger works freely. If not, it may need to be replaced.

If the above suggestions do not resolve this issue, I recommend taking advantage of your warranty since your refrigerator is in the initial one year warranty.

Hello Nicole,

Thank you for choosing the GE Adora refrigerator.

The normal operation of your refrigerator will cause some sound. The following list contains sounds that are normal.

* A Chirping/barking/woof/howl sound can sometimes be heard as the damper door opens/closes.
* A change in fan speed as the refrigerator responds to changes in temperature due to door opening.
* A clicking/tic toc noise can be heard when the defrost timer switches on and off.
* A click can be heard when the temperature control unit turns the unit on and off.
* A boiling, gurgling, or knocking sound can be heard when the unit is running. This is caused by the circulation of refrigerant.
* Gurgling sound in the door. This sound can be heard just after the door is closed because of the water in drain tube trap area. It can last several seconds.
* A drip may be heard when defrost water is dripping into the pan beneath the refrigerator.
* The icemaker will make a loud noise when cubes are dropped into the bucket.
* A hum or click can be heard when the icemaker fills with water. This sound may be heard once or multiple times.
* A cracking or popping sound can be heard when evaporator coils on Top Mount No Frost models are cooling after defrost.
* Buzzing noises can be heard after getting water from the door dispenser. The noise should not last longer than 7 seconds.
* A snapping sound will be heard about 4 seconds after removing a glass from a dispenser. This is the sound of the dispenser chute closing.
* A clicking noise may be heard after a power shortage. This stems from the compressor trying to re-start itself. The noise could last for 3 to 5 minutes.
* A hissing, sizzling, buzzing, or arching noise may be heard on self-defrost models. This is produced when water drips on defrost heaters.

I hope this helps!

Hello Dave H.

Thank you for choosing the GE French door Adora refrigerator. This is Donna with GE and I am happy to address your concerns.

Allow about 24 hours for the unit to cool down and stabilize after initial installation. Make sure that both the refrigerator and freezer contain a reasonable food load. Closed containers of water, food or non-perishables will help to stabilize the temperature. This is because the items in the refrigerator absorb the cold, and actually work to help the refrigerator maintain a steady temperature,

If the the controls have been set properly for 24 hours but the unit is still warm, you may need to schedule service.
Please see the link below for scheduling warranty service if needed.
