I just bought this flooring and the rep at Home Depot said to put down air guard before install and it needed no glue or nails. Is this correct? On a split level house, upstairs is wood base layer and downstairs concrete.

You will need a power nailer to accommodate a 3/8" product. We recommend 18-20 gauge nail/cleat that is 1” to 1 ½” in length. When face nailing the starting and ending row, use a 6d casing or finish nails every 10”-12” (due to the hardness of this product pre-drilling hole is recommended)
When blind nailing through the tongue, a minimum of two fasteners per plank is required. First fastener should be located near the ends (between 1” and 3” from ends). then every 6”-8”

Use 18 staples with an 18 ga nailer. Remember not all nailers are the same and not all can use all sizes. Ask your tool guy these types of questions.

Hi Shasha, while this product can be used above grade on concrete or wood sub-floor, because of water it is not recommended for a bathroom.

If this is a dressing area/power room, you would first put down a moisture barrier and then a waterproof membrane.

This is very nice flooring and with it made of bamboo, it will last and last. Enjoy.

It is safe to install in a powder room, like on any hardwood flooring- water can cause damage. If the powder room gets a lot of water on the floor on a daily basis, such as kids tend to drop... I probably would reconsider.

Hopes this helps!

No glue necessary for this flooring. Planks interlock and we used a higher grade underlay which minimized ability to shift. Nailed just the end pieces to ensure no shifting, before finishing with the baseboard that also held the floor in place.

Thank you for your inquiry. This solid hardwood would need to have 15lb roofing felt paper in between your wood subfloor and the solid bamboo flooring. If you are working with concrete, the flooring adhesive would be the only thing between the concrete and the solid bamboo.

Hi vick,

Depending on the nails and nailer you use will determine why the nailer is damaging the planks.

I'd first recommend to check the size of the nail, and setting of the nailer, to ensure that this reduces or eliminates the damage done.

See if you have an owner's manual to see what nails can work. Typically, thinner solid wood flooring like this work just as well with smaller cleats, and not staples.
