Installing bamboo in a humid environment would take some consideration; our floorings (including our bamboo) would need to be kept between 60°F to 80°F and 35% to 60% relative humidity for the life of the flooring. If those conditions do not naturally exist in a particular area, using things such as humidifiers/dehumidifiers and temperature control elements would be necessary. If this would be too difficult to maintain, it is not advised to install our products.

For this solid bamboo floor, the recommendation would be to glue the product down over concrete; a nail down installation would only be advised over solid wood or plywood.

Yes, you can use the flooring adhesive method. However, after using this process myself with terrible results, I recommend using the nail-down method or choosing a thicker version of this flooring.

This question depends on a couple of factors, namely, the weight of the dog and the edge of its nails. The heavier a dog is, the more pressure that their feet/nails can generate. This, coupled with the edge of the nail produces the scratch potential of the dog. If its nails are squared off or jagged, the scratch potential is significantly increased. If they are rounded/oval, the scratch potential is significantly reduced.

Hey there,

This is Mr. Jay with the How-To Community. Bamboo is a relatively durable hardwood, but there are different styles that bamboo comes in. Styles like the one here and other carbonized styles actually rate lower than red oak on the hardiness scale. Strand Woven styles like the one I linked below are nearly 2x as strong and comparable to red mahogany as far as hardiness. This will help protect against any damage renters could make. Both however are still sensitive to scratches, so make sure your dog's nails are clipped regularly.

Hope this helps answer your question!~ = )

This floor has a tongue and groove construction and therefore requires it to be either nailed or glued in order to secure the floor to the subfloor. Laminate has a click and lock feature which allows the planks to be securely joined to each other without the use of nails or glue hence a floating installation.

There would be many factors to consider when contemplating installing this floor over tile. Because this is a solid floor, it requires to be nailed or glued down. One would need to check with the glue manufacture to see if tile is an acceptable substrate for the glue. Also you would need to adhere to the subfloor guidelines concerning levelness, moisture content, etc.

An option to consider would be an floating floor, Model HL605

Staples are not recommended. Staples have a hard time penetrating the floor and damage the tongue.

Any reputable brand of nailer is acceptable. The tool should be sized to match the thickness of the flooring (3/8”). IF it is a multi-thickness tool, use the correct foot adapter to match the thickness of the flooring. One with floor protector pad or guard is preferable to prevent damage to the flooring.
For face nailing, a 6d-8d casing or finish nails is recommended.
These should be spaced every 10” - 12”
For blind nailing, a 15-16 or 18-20 gauge nail or cleat that is 1 ½” to 2” inches in length should be used. These should be spaced every 6” - 8” apart.

They don't embed far enough. You have to use the little 'L' shaped nails that are recommended and a floor nailer to shoot them through the tongue at 45 degrees. They stay tight that way.
