This solid hardwood would need to have 15lb roofing felt paper in between your wood subfloor and the solid bamboo flooring. If you are working with concrete, the flooring adhesive would be the only thing between the concrete and the solid bamboo.

Board joint separation is often cause by change in moisture content of the environment and/or subfloor. This change in environment causes the boards to shrink/swell. Therefore with careful observance to the installation guidelines and proper installation, end joints should not separate.
Some (but not limited to) guidelines:
allow the flooring to acclimate,
ensure that the subfloor is flat and level
measure the subfloor moisture content and verify that it meets the requirements,
use a moisture barrier and the appropriate glue,
maintain proper environment after installation.

Hi vick,

Depending on the nails and nailer you use will determine why the nailer is damaging the planks.

I'd first recommend to check the size of the nail, and setting of the nailer, to ensure that this reduces or eliminates the damage done.

See if you have an owner's manual to see what nails can work. Typically, thinner solid wood flooring like this work just as well with smaller cleats, and not staples.
