I'm going to overseed my whole lawn this fall, I'm worried about the "plus 2 weed control" will affect the grass seed to germinate. Please advise.

No, we do not recommend using Scotts Turf Builder Winteguard with Plus 2 Weed Control on newly seeded lawns. If you apply the product first, do not seed for 4 weeks. If you seed first, do not apply the product until the new grass has been mowed at least 4 times. You can use Scotts Turf Builder Winterguard or a better option is Scotts Turf Builder Starter Food For New Grass.

We have planted new grass Spring 2013 and now have lots and lots of foxtail. We would like to get rid of the foxtail as quickly as possible. We don't know what to use and when to apply it for the best results.

Turfbuilder Winterguard with Plus 2 Weed Control will not control grassy weeds like foxtail. On most cool season grass types foxtail can be prevented by applying Turfbuilder with Halts or Halts Crabgrass preventer in Early Spring before foxtail seeds begin to germinate.

Question

What is the chemical content of the Scotts Winter Guard Plus 2 at Home Depot?

I was disappointed to see the Scotts Winter Guard Plus 2 at one of your major competitors is now 28-0-3. In the past, I thought the Winter Guard Plus 2 products were 26-2-12 and in my opinion that is a better product for stimulating root growth for fall and winter feeding.

In addition, the product I use in the spring - Scotts Turf Builder Plus 2 at your major competitor (28-0-4 )is about $10.00 less a bag than the inferior their inferior Winter Guard Plus 2. In other words, a consumer would be silly to purchase their Winter Guard Plus 2 product...because they could save some money and buy Turf Builder Plus 2 instead. Hopefully, Home Depot still has the superior Scotts Winter Guard Plus 2 with the more ideal chemical content of something close to the old 26-2-12.

Please let me know if Home Depot still has the better 26-2-12 Scotts Winter Guard Plus 2 or something close to it in your stores...

.if for policy purposes, can't answer this on your website...please just send me an email with the answer.

NPK ratios and the amount of the active ingredients in a fertilizer change from season to season as research and manufacturing indicates is necessary.

We offer different products to different retailers to meet all of consumer's needs. Though Turf Builder Plus 2 can be used in the early fall, Turf Builder WinterGuard with Plus 2 Weed Control is more ideal because of the higher amount of potassium this provides, which is recommended for fall feeding. No matter which product you decide to use, you will get the same great results that you expect from a Scotts fertilizer.
