Question

Cutout Height

Asked by
Steve
about Profile 2.2 cu. ft. Countertop Microwave in Stainless Steel with Sensor Cooking on
March 28, 2015
My existing cutout height is 17.5". The manual calls for a cutout height of 16.75" plus or minus 1/8". Will I still be able to mount the trim kit with the extra cutout height without a problem and have less wall overhang on the top or will there be an issue?

Hello,
This is Joyce from GE. I will be happy to help. Due to different configurations and design changes involving airflow and heat issues, new microwaves are only approved for installation with current trim kits. Model PEB7226SFSS will work in the same cutout as your current unit. This model uses a different built in trim kit, JX7230SFSS (30 inch) or JX7227SFSS (27 inch) but the cut-out dimensions are the same so you would not need to alter the cutout opening. However, you will need to use the trim kit that is required for this model. None of the built-in installation kits are totally interchangeable. GE recommends using the trim kit and hardware that is designed for the specific microwave. I hope this helps. Thanks for checking with us!

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. The correct trim kit for the PEB7226SFSS is the JX7227SFSS (for 27" cabinets). The cutout required for this trim kit is: 16-3/4" H x 25-1/2" W. You may also want to look at a built-in Advantium. It is a wall oven and microwave all-in-one. The cut-out requirement for the PSB9100SFSS is 17-1/2"a H x 25-1/4" W. I hope this helps! Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. This microwave and corresponding trim kit would be the correct model to replace your 14 year old microwave according to your cabinet opening. We hope your new microwave gets to heat up a lot of pizza too! Both of the trim kits require the same cabinet opening. You would use the JX7230SFSS trim kit if your cabinets are 30" wide and if you are installing this microwave over a 30" wall oven. You would use the JX7227SFSS trim kit if your cabinets are 27" wide or if you are installing this over a 27" wall oven. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

The Deluxe Built-In 30 inch Microwave Trim Kit Model # JX7230SFSS allows for built-in installation of a the 2.2 microwave oven in a wall or cabinet alone, or over a GE Profile Series 30 in. single electric wall oven: http://www.homedepot.com/p/GE-Delux....

The Installation Instructions are located here: https://www.myapstore.com/Marketing.... Your opening measurements look good – double check that you have 19.5 or 22 inch depth.

I hope this new microwave carries on the re-heated pizza tradition as well as its predecessor!

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. The JE1860SB002 with its trim kit required cabinet cutout dimensions of 16-3/4" H x 25-1/2" W. A model that would work well within your cabinet cutout is the PEB7226SFSS as it with its trim kit requires similar cutout dimensions. The trim kit would be the JX2730SFSS for 30" cabinets or the JX7227SFSS for 27" cabinets. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. Model #JVM1140WH01 is not a valid model number. If you have model JE1140WD, then it was a countertop model that did not accept a trim kit to be built into the cabinet. We recommend reviewing the following current countertop microwaves that are approved for use with the corresponding built-in trim kit: PEB1590DM, PEB7226DF, PEM31DF. I hope this helps! Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. We are glad to see that you were able to received many years of use from this built-in microwave. The current cabinet cutout dimensions that you currently have are (assuming your microwave was installed per the specifications): 24-1/8" W (+/- 1/8") x 17-9/16" H (+/- 1/16") x 19" to 21" D. We no longer offer a microwave with trim kit with these cutouts. You could go with Microwave PEB9159SFSS which uses a trim kit that requires a cutout of 18-34" H x 24" W or with Microwave PEB7226SFSS which uses a trim kit that requires a cutout of 16-3/4" H x 25-1/2" W. Another alternative may be our Advantium PSB9100SFSS which is an oven with microwave functions. Once you use an Advantium, you will never want to use a regular microwave again. The Advantium does not require a separate trim kit and requires a cutout of 17-1/2" H x 25-1/4" W x 23-1/2" D. I hope this information is helpful! Thanks for checking with us!

Hello,
This is Joyce from GE. I will be happy to help. Metal is the only material that will contain microwaves so all microwave walls are metal. The mesh screen (called a choke) you see in the window is also metal to keep microwaves from passing through the glass or the plastic door.

Thanks so much for your question. Have a good day!
