No bumping or turning off the motor to hassle with hand feeding string; Black & Decker's 18-volt cordless string trimmer features the company's exclusive Automatic Feed Spool (AFS) system that automatically advances cutting string without bumping. By letting centrifugal force feed the trimmer line as it is needed, you get a smooth consistent length of line for optimal performance. Battery-powered, this cordless string trimmer has the capacity to trim grass after mowing for up to a 1/2-acre home site on a single charge of both included 18-volt batteries. Quiet and easy to start, the unit requires no gas, oil, or tune-ups. The Grasshog's Groom 'N' Edge head rotates 180 degrees to convert the trimmer to an edger with a push of a button. When used as an edger, the flip-down edge guide keeps the Grasshog in line with sidewalks and driveways. A secondary handle adjusts for increased comfort and control. A lock-off switch prevents accidental start-ups to ensure safe usage every time.

Handy, but not powerful,

I recently bought my first one of this type (non-corded). While it is quite handy, not to have to pull electical cord along with you; the batteries only last about 10 minutes, after which, their power diminishes quickly. At that point, you have to stop, because the unit will not cut any more grass or edge anything. Recharge time is very long (6-9 hours!). I have had 4 B&D corded edge hogs. They get any job done (within reason), without loss of power. They also break (irreparably for me) with about 2 years' use. I will not be replacing the battery operated one, with anything but a corded one.
No, I do not recommend this product.

Inexpensive purchase/expensive life use,

I have had 3 of these. They seen to last abot 2 -3 years (about once a week edging and tgrimming). They burn through VERY expensive replacement string spools at an alarming rate. To save money, I bought a 1,000 yard spool and from it, I hand re-wind the tool's spool. The line burns off even faster; but will NOT feed by itself. Every 10 - 20 seconds, I must stop; remover the cover and hand feed a section)...repeat..repeat... When they break (the spool feeder head, usually); replacement is cheaper than shipping to and from the repair center(s), which is/are not convenient. So I have no choice but to buy a new one and try, try again.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I have a rather large yard; too big for a push mower, but not really big enough to justify a rider. This Toro is great! It cuts evenly and cleanly, but most importantly, it doesn't need to be pushed. The personal pace is just perfect. It has sped up my mowing time by 30%. I don't think I could have found any better mower for the money!
