I keep it running all day and only need to refill once a day. It can be a little bit of a pain to clean the heat element but that depends on your water. My parents have an identical one and have no problem what so ever. My house seems to have more calcium in the water so I have a higher build up. This is the easiest humidifier to clean. I can get everywhere necessary without having to unscrew items like other units I have bought and returned! My parents have had theirs for over a year and I've had mine for a few months with no issues! Would love to order another for my room as the one I have is in my daughters (however, hd is out of stock).
