With the matching washer, this dryer is phenomenal. Unlike our old dryer, this one really does sense how dry the laundry is. My wife thought it wasn't working right when the clothes came out slightly damp. Then she checked the settings and saw that she had actually set the control for slightly damp. My wife is really happy with her GE laundry set and when she's happy, I'm happy.

My wife seemed to be spending way too much time doing laundry. When she wasn't doing small loads at home, she was at the laundromat washing the king-size comforters. When I offered to help and ended up at the laundromat watching a front-loader do its thing, I suggested we upgrade her machines. I fully expected to spend $4,000 but when I checked CR and saw the GE washer's rating, I did a quick search and found the best price at Home Depot. Ordered it from home and it was delivered in less than a week. I had some work to do on the dryer ducting so Home Depot didn't do the setup but it wasn't a big deal -- except that the new washer weighs twice as much as the old top loader.
My wife is thrilled with the new machine. The wash cycle does take longer but it washes twice as much laundry. She can wash all the sheets and pillowcases from the king size bed and throw in a couple of huge bath towels (sheets?) in one load. She's not crazy about all the different settings but when I showed her how to use the "My Cycle" feature, she was thrilled. It's like she has a new puppy. She even came out to the garage to show me how clean the washer got my socks.
I'm a guy so this is only a guess -- this washer/dryer combo is as big a deal for my wife as the big plasma TV is for me.
