The Pelican 10 in. Whole House Hot Water Sediment Post Filter replacement (4-Pack) is recommended for homes with heavy sediment. These filters fit the following standard Pelican Water RHT40 post-filter system. Helps protect your tankless water heater from the damaging effects of sediment (dirt and debris) build up. The sediment in city or well water can clog shower heads and faucets with sediment coming from the tankless hot water heater. The pre-filter system filters out particles as small as 5 microns in size.

          Answer:
Hello Roman, no the RHT-40 is not designed as a replacement filter for the EHS5 Water Heater Shield. If you are looking for a filter replacement for the EHS5 Water Heater Shield, you would need to order it from a plumber or HDPro.com. The part number is WHS5-R or WHS5-R-4 (4-Pack). Install a holistic water supply in your home with this Pelican Water 80,000 Grains Water Softener. This softener is designed to treat hard water by removing calcium and magnesium from it with the use of salt and ion-exchange resins. As a result of treating hard water you will see cleaner and brighter silverware, glassware, mirrors, tile and plumbing fixtures. The hard water process is done by treating resins that are coated in a sodium solution and when hard water comes into contact with the resin beads, the calcium and magnesium ions migrate out of the solution to the active sites on the resin and are replaced in the solution by sodium ions. You will also reap benefits of healthier softer skin and hair while showering and using less soap and shampoo and your fabrics can stay whiter and brighter without the harshness of hard water.

Expected salt usage. 60gpg, iron prefilter, min 120 gallons per day max 300 gallons. 4k gpg/lb would imply lots of salt

It does not include any iron or manganese in the water, which will also consume capacity of the softener. Factory settings are "Standard", which is 6# per cubic foot. So based upon the maximum, you would want to use the Meter override setting, with Day Override set to 9 days, and salt setting set to Standard. By using Meter Override, the unit will look at both gallons and time, and will regen one or the other, whichever gets exhausted first. With a range of 120 gallons to 3-00 gallons per day, this would be the best option. Thank you, The Pelican Water Customer Satisfaction Team Read Less
